FAQs

Are your electric vehicle charging cables good quality?
+

All of the EV cables we sell are made of high quality materials and manufactured here in the UK. They're also rigorously tested to the highest standards, ensuring that your cable is built to last for a long time.

Which size electric vehicle charging cable should I get?
+

Ideally you want to buy a charging cable that provides enough length to connect your electric vehicle to a charger without dangling above the ground. In most cases, our 5m charging cables are more than enough, however we do recommend measuring the distance between where you park your car and your charger if you are buying a cable to use at home.

Which EV chargers are your cables compatible with?
+

Our car charging cables are compatible with all the untethered chargers we sell including the Easee One, Ohme ePod, Simpson and Partner Home 7 (untethered) and Easee Charge.

As for public charging stations, almost all of them will have a universal socket ensuring compatibility with all cables (including ours).

Please note: The Ohme Home Pro, Hypervolt Home 3, Tesla Wall Connector and Andersen A2 are not compatible due to coming with their own built-in cables.

Will these EV charging leads work with my vehicle?
+

Almost all electric vehicle manufacturers use the Type 2 EV cable standard meaning that our cables are guaranteed to work with almost all modern electric vehicles on the market today.

If you have an older electric vehicle however, such as the Nissan Leaf, it might have a Type 1 charging connector meaning that you will need to purchase a Type 1 cable.

Our vehicle database will tell you what charging connector your electric car has if you are unsure.

What are the different types of EV charger cables?
+

The most common charging cable types in the UK are Type 1 and Type 2.

Generally speaking, almost all plug-in cars made after 2015 will use a Type 2 connector while those made before will use a Type 1 connector. An exception to this are some Plug-in Hybrids (such as the Mitsubishi outlander) that haven't had a recent model refresh.

Smaller electric vehicles such as the Citreon Ami or Renault Twizy will use a three-pin plug rather than a dedicated EV cable connector. This also applies to some electric motorcycles.

Are these EV cables three-phase compatible?
+

While you can use our range of electric car charger cables with a three-phase EV charger, they're all single-phase, meaning that they have a maximum charging capacity of 7.4kW (adding around 30 miles of range per hour of charge). Most UK residential properties are single-phase so it's ideal for the majority of EV drivers.

If you would like a three-phase charging cable, please contact customer service and we will order one for you.

Are EV charging cables "weather-proof"?
+

Yes, our car charging cables have a high IP55 waterproof rating, so it should be very durable and suitable for indoor and outdoor charging.

Do your EV cables come with a warranty?
+

Yes, you can check the supplier's warranty here.

How do I swap my Easee One's front cover?
+

You can find detailed instructions on how to remove your Easee's front cover over on our help pages.

Can I use the D-line EV cable cover on a public footpath?
+

Please check with your local council before using our D-line EV cable covers on a public footpath.
