Easee One 7kW smart home EV charger installation

The Easee One charger is our best-seller and for good reason. The timeless and elegant design blends in seamlessly with your home. Plus, the Easee charger can work in tethered or untethered mode - choose whether to lock the cable in place for easy access or remove it for a cleaner look when not in use. You can also charge your EV with solar energy too thanks to the Easee Equalizer accessory which can be added at a later date - handy if you're thinking about installing solar panels but don't have them yet.

OUR INSTALLATION PRICES ARE A GUIDE

The prices on our website for an EV charger installation are the minimum cost for any installation, but your final quote will depend on a number of factors including:

  1. Cable length - how much extra cable is required to connect your charger to the mains.
  2. Extra equipment - some installations require extra protective equipment such as a Type A RCBO and/or earth rod.
  3. Complexity - depending on the cable route and other factors, our in-house technicians will assess how much time and labour is required to complete the installation.

Every installation and quote is different, which is why we ask you to complete an Online Site Survey so we can give you an accurate and honest quote for your own home installation.

WHAT DO THE WEBSITE PRICES INCLUDE?

As mentioned above, the prices on the website are a rough guide only and you will need to complete an Online Site Survey to get an accurate quote for your home installation. The prices on the website include:

  1.  The charger (not including delivery)
  2.  Our Basic Installation Package - this is the minimum cost for any installation, but yours could be more.

HOW DO I START THE ONLINE SITE SURVEY AND GET A QUOTE?

  1. To get started, click "Request A Quote" on your preferred charger
  2. Fill in the short form.
  3. We will email and text you a link to your guided Online Site Survey
  4. Follow the instructions and take the photos requested
  5. Once we have all the details required, we will email you an honest and accurate quote.

Can't decide between a tethered or untethered home charger? Well, the Easee One is both thanks to a cable locking feature on the Easee app. What's more, the Easee One can be expanded as your EV household grows by "daisy-chaining" up to three chargers on one cable run.
Power Output - 7.4kW
+

The Easee One is capable of charging your vehicle at up to 7kW, which will provide around 30 miles of range per hour depending on your vehicle.

Connectivity - WiFi and mobile data
+

The Easee One is one of the few chargers to feature both WiFi and mobile data meaning that you can be sure that you'll always be able to connect to your Easee, even at times when your home WiFi might be down.

Universal socket
+

Thanks to its universal socket, the Easee One is compatible with both type 1 and type 2 cables meaning you needn't worry about having an older electric vehicle.

What's more, if you want the convenience of a tethered charge point (where the cable is permanently attached) then simply turn on cable-locking in the Easee app and your easee will lock into your cable until you turn cable locking off.

Cables are sold separately, which can be purchased at the checkout.

Other branded cables are also available from our accessories store.

Colour options - Black, White, Blue, Red and Anthracite Grey
+

The Easee One comes bundled with a Black, White, Blue, Red or Anthracite grey faceplate.

Don't like any of those colours? Simply remove the Easee One's faceplate and swap it with another one. You can even purchase blue and red faceplates as well as the ones mentioned above from our accessories page.

Built-in earthing protection
+

Thanks to the Easee One's open pen conductor protection, there's no need for a costly and unsightly earthrod installation at your property.

Solar Compatibility - Yes (Requires Equalizer)
+

With the help of the Equalizer (sold separately), your Easee can harness the power from your solar array to effectively charge your EV for free.

What's more, the Equalizer can be fitted to your power supplies at a later date for added flexibility.

If you would like to find out if a solar home charging solution is right for you, be sure to check out our charging your electric vehicle with solar panels article.

Once your Equalizer is installed, you can activate solar charging and choose from two modes:

  • Solar: Charge your Electric vehicle using energy solely generated by your solar array
  • Grid + Solar: Charge your car with a combination of solar and grid energy

Please note: In order to enable solar charging, you must first have a solar array. If you would like to have an Easee Equilizer installed alongside your Easee One, please select "Easee One Solar" at the top of this page before clicking "request a quote".

Warranty - 3 years
+

The Easee One comes with a three year warranty so you can be assured that if something does go wrong with your EV charger (although very unlikely) Easee has you covered.

Dimensions - H256 x W193 x D106mm
+

Featuring a small and minimalist design, the Easee One EV charger won't take up too much space on your wall.

Dimensions - H256 x W193 x D106mm

Software

Easee by name, easy by nature. The Easee companion app is simple and intuitive to use, giving you access to a range of features including smart scheduling so you can set your EV to charge when prices are at their lowest, helping you to save hundreds of pounds every year.
 Smart Scheduling - Yes
+

Got a cheaper rate overnight? Simply set a charge schedule to coincide with your energy tariff's off-peak rate on the Easee app and your Easee EV charger will start and stop charging a plugged-in vehicle during the time you've set.

To find out how to get cheaper EV charging, check out our Cost to Charge tool.

Cost tracking - Yes
+

Keep track of how much you're spending on home charging thanks to the Easee app's built in cost tracking feature.

 Remote lock/unlock - Yes
+

Concerned about charger security? Don't be - the Easee app lets you remotely "lock" the charger to prevent unwanted use.

Over-the-air updates
+

The Easee app is regularly updated with improvements and new features, so your Easee product gets better and better over time.

Easee One FAQs

Can I download a full spec sheet for the Easee One?
+

Yes, you can download full specifications and details for the Easee right here.

Can I get a Type 1 version of the Easee One?
+

The Easee One has a universal socket which will work with a Type 1 cable and therefore a Type 1 electric vehicle. This is because the Easee can operate as both a tethered (cable attached) or untethered (socket only) charge point.

If you have a Type 1 vehicle, simply order a Type 1 EV charging cable and plug it into the Easee's universal socket.

Can I get a longer cable for the Easee One?
+

The Easee One does not come with a cable as standard. You can order a Type 2 Easee branded cable (7.5m) separately for £240. Unfortuantely, Easee does not supply type 1 cables.

Or you can order EV charging cables from Smart Home Charge which you can still use with your Easee unit. You can order Type 2 EV charging cables directly from the Smart Home Charge store, including a longer 10-metre cable.

Is there a 22kW version of the Easee One?
+

Yes. If you have a three-phase electricity supply at home, then a charger that offers a charging rate of up to 22kW could be a great option for you.

The Easee Charge is identical to the Easee One in every way except it is also capable of 22kW three-phase charging for a faster EV charge.

If you would like to know more about 22kW EV charging and to find out if it's right for you, be sure to check out our 22kW EV charging guide.

Is the Easee One “weather-proof”?
+

Yes. It has IP54 certification, plus 11 sensors and intelligent temperature measurement to keep you and your home safe.

It is also designed and built in Norway, so the Easee should be able to cope with the good-old British weather.

Can I get the Easee One in different colours?
+

Yes.

The Easee One comes delivered with a black, white, red, blue or anthracite grey faceplate as standard, but you can order different colours separately.

Plus, the faceplate is easily changed so you won't need an electrician to do this.

These can be purchased separately for £35.00.

What is the warranty for the Easee One?
+

There is a three-year warranty on the Easee One supplied by Easee themselves. Any issues under warranty should be dealt with by Easee directly.

Smart Home Charge also provides a one-year installation warranty.

Is there a setup and troubleshooting guide for the Easee One?
+
Is the Easee One the right electric vehicle charger for me?
+

The Easee One is a great product that we highly recommend, but if you want some more advice on how to choose the best EV charger then check out these tips.

Where can I find a cyber regulations certificate of compliance for the Easee One?
+

Easee has issued a statement of compliance, which can be found here.

How does the Easee One solar package work?
+

In order to enable solar charging on your Easee One, you will first need to have the Equalizer installed, which connects to your power meter.

The Equalizer can be installed alongside your Easee One installation or afterwards.

Installation FAQs
Will my property need works or upgrades to the electricity supply before installation of an EV charge point?
+

Many customers will not need any upgrades to their electricity supply before having an EV charger installed.

All installers are however required to notify the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) of any EV charger installations, who will advise you and us if an upgrade to your property’s main fuse is necessary.

This depends on your property’s “maximum demand” estimate, (which is submitted by our in-house technicians to your DNO as part of our process), the size of the main fuse or if your property is on a looped supply (connected to your neighbour).

Any potential works will be handled by your DNO and they will contact you directly if this is the case.

How do I get a quote for my EV charger installation?
+

If you have an EV or plug-in hybrid, or have one on order, then you are ready to get a charger installation quote. Simply choose the electric car charger you like the look of and select "Request a Quote" at the top of this page. Don't worry if you're not 100% sure on the charger - there will be time to swap this before payment if your change your mind.

Why isn’t my quote the same as the price on the website?
+

Every installation is unique, which is why we ask you to complete our remote Online Site Survey. We need to properly assess the work involved in order to give you an accurate and honest quote. Our website prices are meant to be a guide and show the minimum cost for an installation of each particular charger. So, that means the quote we email to you may be different to the price on the website.

How long will it be until my EV charger is installed?
+

Typically this is one to four weeks after payment. The main factors that affect your installation date are your remote site survey completion time and whether your DNO needs to complete any upgrades to your electricity supply before we install your charger. We keep you updated at each stage of the process, but you can help keep things moving by completing your remote site survey quickly.

My car isn’t listed on your website. Does that mean I can’t get a charger installation from Smart Home Charge?
+

You can still get an installation from us even if you can’t find your vehicle on our website. Simply “Request a Quote” for the charger you like and tell us which vehicle you have in the quote form. Our EV database is updated regularly but are not meant to be a definitive guide – there are simply too many new EVs and plug-in hybrids being launched for us to keep up!

Do you install EV charge points in my area?
+

Smart Home Charge is a nationwide installer, covering England, Scotland and Wales. We have experienced engineers covering all major cities and regions. Find out if we install EV chargers in your area with our location checker.

Will you set up my charge point app?
+

Yes. Our engineers will complete the initial setup and pairing of the charger app with the charge point itself as this is considered as part of the installation. However, the engineers are not required to demonstrate how the app works or set up any schedules for you. Visit our EV charger support section for useful tips and troubleshooting.

Will you process my OZEV Grant claim?
+

As OZEV-approved installers, we are able to help you apply for the EV Chargepoint Grants supplied by the Government landlords, renters, workplace and more. Our team will assess your eligibility for the grant and work with you to supply the right evidence to the Government in order to claim the grant. Your installation will not be booked until we have all the required documentation to submit your claim to the Government.

However, as an installer Smart Home Charge does not approve or reject your claim and a successful charger installation does not mean your claim was approved. It can take up to three months post installation for confirmation of approval or rejection of your claim from the Government.

Can't speak highly enough of the two lads who installed my charger to SK10 4HR today (Adam + ?). Super-polite, knowledgeable and professional. It was a nice reminder that good workmanship ...is rare these days but not dead! Please pass on our thanks.
