The unobtrusive, but smart design of the Sync EV is just one reason why it is our most popular untethered charge point.
Dimensions - H187mm x W122mm x D90mm
Weight - 1.5kg
Unlike many other EV chargers, the Sync EV makes use of a built-in 3G/4G mobile signal to connect to your Sync EV app as well as including a backup WiFi. This can be a useful feature, especially if your charger will be located too away from your home WiFi router. The data use is free for three years, after which there is £9.99 charge for another three-year plan - however, you can just revert to using the WiFi if it is within reach.
The Sync EV also has a built-in WiFi connection to use as a backup or alternative to the 3G/4G mobile data connection.
The Sync EV LED indicator helps you quickly identify the charging status of the unit, such as ready to charge, charging, or if there's an error.
Some charge points require the installation of a copper earth rod, or alternative device, at your property for safety reasons. But this can also add complexity and extra cost to the job. The Sync EV avoids the need for this thanks to its built-in PEN fault detection feature.
The Sync EV is capable of charging your vehicle at 7.4kW, which adds up to 30 miles of range each hour (vehicle dependent).
Set charge schedules so your EV charges at certain times, such as when your electricity prices are low. Just choose a start and stop time to suit your needs.
If you just want your vehicle to charge as soon as your plug it in, then the Sync EV's plug and charge feature has you covered. Or you can manually tell the Sync EV to start charging your vehicle at any time from the app.
The Sync EV app lets you can monitor your charging time, energy used and estimated cost, as well as review previous charge sessions.
You can adjust the rate at which your vehicle charges, such as reducing the rate from 32-amps to 16-amps. Most will not need this feature, but it's a useful bonus.
Sync EV is regularly updating its app. That means improvements are made to existing features and new ones are added. In other words, your app improves with time.
Yes. The Sync EV is an untethered charge point, which means it has no cable permanently attached. Because the socket is a universal socket, it will work with both Type 1 and Type 2 electric vehicles.
Yes, you can order an optional charging cable to use with the Sync EV (additional cost). Most electric cars should come with a charging cable that you can use with the Sync EV or public charge points, but they can be quite short (2.5m on average). You can order a 5-metre or 10-metre Type 2 charging cable for use with the Sync EV and your Type 2 EV. Please specify this when completing your Request a Quote form.
No, the Sync EV is only available as a 7.4kW charge point. This is more than enough for most EV drivers and in fact most UK residential properties cannot facilitate a 22kW charger - find out why in our guide to 22kW three-phase charging.
The Sync EV is a durable home EV charge point that is rated IP54 for water ingress. This means it should operate just fine outside in UK weather.
Yes. Currently, you will need to contact Sync EV directly and their support team should be able to do this for you. There is a planned app update that should allow customers to change the LED brightness themselves.
Yes, the Sync EV is available in Black or White.
There is a three-year manufacturer warranty supplied by Sync EV. If you are experiencing any issues under warranty, you should contact Sync EV.
What an excellent service. The technician was very competent and explained everything he was doing and kept things clean and tidy. I'd highly recommend this service to anyone. Terry - Warrington
They guide you through the whole process from choosing a charger, a really smart app to determine the installation cost which they stick to and then a really neat and tidy installation. John - Winchester
If you have an EV or plug-in hybrid, or have one on order, then you are ready to get a charger installation quote. Simply choose the electric car charger you like the look of and select "Request a Quote" at the top of this page. Don't worry if you're not 100% sure on the charger - there will be time to swap this before payment if your change your mind.
Every installation is unique, which is why we ask you to complete our remote Online Site Survey. We need to properly assess the work involved in order to give you an accurate and honest quote. Our website prices are meant to be a guide and show the minimum cost for an installation of each particular charger. So, that means the quote we email to you may be different to the price on the website.
Typically this is 3-4 weeks after payment if you are claiming the Government OZEV Grant and a little quicker if you aren't. The main factors that affect your installation date are your remote site survey completion time, OZEV Grant application, and whether your DNO needs to complete any upgrades to your electricity supply before we install your charger. We keep you updated at each stage of the process, but you can help keep things moving by completing your remote site survey quickly and providing your OZEV Grant application evidence when we ask for it.
You can still get an installation from us even if you can’t find your vehicle on our website. Simply “Request a Quote” for the charger you like and tell us which vehicle you have in the quote form. Our vehicle listings are updated regularly but are not meant to be a definitive guide – there are simply too many new EVs and plug-in hybrids being launched for us to keep up!
Smart Home Charge is a nationwide installer, covering England, Scotland and Wales. We have experienced engineers covering all major cities and regions. We have limited capacity in some remote areas, but we will always advise you of availability and any expected lead time before you start your survey.
Yes. Our engineers will complete the initial setup and pairing of the charger app with the charge point itself as this is considered as part of the installation. However, the engineers are not required to demonstrate how the app works or set up any schedules for you. We have a number of setup guides, reviews, and troubleshooting articles on our website that may help or you can contact the manufacturer directly.
As OZEV-approved installers, we are able to help you apply for the £350 Grant supplied by the Government towards to the cost of your EV charge point installation. Our team will assess your eligibility for the grant and work with you to supply the right evidence to the Government in order to claim the grant. Your installation will not be booked until we have all the required documentation to submit your claim to the Government. However, as an installer Smart Home Charge does not approve or reject your claim and a successful charger installation does not mean your claim was approved. It can take up to three months post installation for confirmation of approval or rejection of your claim from the Government. To learn more, read our guide to the OZEV Grant and eligibility.
Many customers will not need any upgrades to their electricity supply before having an EV charger installed. All installers are however required to notify the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) of any EV charger installations, who will advise you and us if an upgrade to your property’s main fuse is necessary. This depends on your property’s “maximum demand” estimate, (which is submitted by our in-house technicians to your DNO as part of our process), the size of the main fuse or if your property is on a looped supply (connected to your neighbour). Any potential works will be handled by your DNO and they will contact you directly if this is the case.
