Charge My Street joins Zap-Pay network
Charge My Street, a community-based network with 40 fast charging devices in north-west England, has joined the Zap-Map payment app.
Charge My Street enables those without access to off-street parking to charge for a reduced cost within a five-minute walk from their home. It installs and operates community charge points for electric vehicles, raising money through community shares via investment service Ethex.
Community-led
Electric vehicle charge points are installed in sites such as village halls, community centres and local businesses to make it easier for those without access to off-street parking to make the switch to an electric vehicle. All profits that Charge My Street makes from shares or subscriptions go straight back into the community – by installing more charge points in the local area. The network is currently coming to the end of an Innovate UK sponsored project to install charge points not only across the north of England but also nationwide.
Simplifying payment
Zap-Pay was launched in 2020 to provide a simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within one app. It means that EV drivers can search, plan and pay for charging all within one app. Charge My Street’s community-based charging network will go live in the Zap-Pay app in the New Year.
