What is a Which? Trusted Trader?

Which? is a well-known and hugely respected consumer rights organisation that has been testing products and services for more than 60 years. 

You may already be familiar with its website, magazine or logo appearing on television advertisements for washing machines, electricals and more. Receiving a commendation, award or being endorsed by Which? is a mark of quality and trust.

Which? also assesses and "tests" trades-based services, such as electricians, plumbers, and builders to help consumers find trustworthy tradespeople. This scheme is called Which? Trusted Traders.

As of November 2022, Smart Home Charge became the first major EV charger installer to be endorsed by Which? Trusted Traders.

Why did we become Which? Trusted Trader?

We understand many of the brands and businesses in the world of EV charging are new to customers. That's why we wanted to be independently assessed by consumer group Which? to become the only major installer in the UK that is a Which? Trusted Trader.

It's a mark of trust, quality and reputation to help customers make an informed choice and have confidence in selecting Smart Home Charge as their installer.

Is there an assessment process?

Yes. There is a rigorous assessment process carried out by independent trading standards professionals.

The assessment covers, but is not limited to:

  • Credit report
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Business procedures - a thorough examination of our business and admin setup to check we have customer interests in mind
  • Marketing material to ensure it's accurate and fair
  • Interview and assessment to fully understand the business
  • Report - feedback on how we can continue to meet the highest standards.
Are there regular checks?

Yes, we are in regular contact with the team at Which? Trusted Traders to ensure we continue to meet the highest standards. 

There is also an annual review, which we must pass to continue to be endorsed by the scheme.

Can I complain to Which? Trusted Traders about Smart Home Charge?

Yes, in a way. 

If things have gone wrong with our service, and we were unable to resolve things through our Complaints Procedure, then you can log a complaint or refer to the Alternative Dispute Resolution service.
