VolvoV60 Plug-In Hybrid (2015) electric chargers
8 kWh battery
Vehicle type Plug-in hybrid
Connector type 2
Range 31 miles of electric driving
Charge speed 7 miles per hour
This model was the first diesel-electric PHEV available in the UK. Volvo refers to this as three cars in one. With its all-electric range of 31 miles it can be a city runabout with zero emissions; then on the open road, the well-established 2.4-litre five cylinder diesel comes into its own for relaxed cruising; and with 276bhp on tap the V60 D6 will reach 0-62 mph in just 6.0 seconds, showing its occasional sporty side (though no-one would really describe this as a “performance” car). Clearly Volvo has put a great deal of effort into providing the driver with a useful set of controls to conserve power. Battery charge can be conserved on the open road using the “Save” button, then used for efficient electric-only driving in urban surroundings.
