The Škoda Superb iV is the company’s first production plug-in hybrid, combining a 1.4-litre petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor. This efficient saloon is capable of up to 34 miles of pure electric zero-emissions driving, while the petrol engine ensures you have plenty of range for those longer journeys should you need it.
The Superb iV can be charged overnight in as little as three hours using a 3.6kW dedicated home charge point. Like other plug-in hybrids, the Škoda Superb iV has a number of electric modes, including electric only, hybrid mode and a “hold” mode which conserves battery energy for urban driving, for example.
As to be expected from a car like this, the Škoda Superb iV is extremely versatile and practical with a spacious 485-litre boot in the hatchback version, while the estate version bumps this up to 510 litres.
Charging at home
You can find full details of how long it takes to charge this vehicle from empty to full using a 7.4kW home charge point at the bottom of this page.
However, it's important to note that most electric car charging is done overnight when you're asleep (so you wake up to a charged vehicle) and it's very unlikely you will ever need to charge the battery from completely empty to completely full. So, in reality, most drivers will only need to "top up" their car's battery overnight - for example, from 50% to 80%.
We tested how often the average driver would need to charge each week using the Jaguar GO I-PACE app. See how we got on in this video.
