The now-discontinued Peugeot iOn is mechanically very similar to the Mitsubishi i-MiEV (as well as the Citroen C-Zero) and has the same 66bhp electric motor with power supplied by lithium-ion batteries, fitted under the middle of the vehicle. The all-electric driving range is (like the i-MiEV before it) 62 miles, but the battery can be fully charged in seven and a half hours from domestic supplies. As a city car, it’s very easy to get through traffic with the iON’s narrow shape (despite which, the car is surprisingly spacious inside).
Charging the Peugeot iOn will take under five hours from empty to full when using a dedicated home wallbox. You can also rapid charge up to 40kW using the CHAdeMO connection - this will give you an 80% charge in about 21 minutes.
