KiaNiro PHEV (2017) electric chargers
7.1 kWh battery
Vehicle type Plug-in hybrid
Connector type 2
Range 36 miles of electric driving
Charge speed 9 miles per hour
An extremely attractive looking SUV created by Kia from the get-go to be powered by hybrid technology. In its first version (2016) it was a standard hybrid, but this version adds plug-in (PHEV) capability. It also comes with a bigger electric motor and the same 1.6-litre petrol engine. The suspension is designed to be firm (which also helps to compensate for a bit of extra battery weight), but many drivers seem to like this. We applaud its ability to fully recharge in 2 hours 45 minutes using a 7.4kW charger giving up to 36 miles of electric driving.
