The Hyundai IONIQ has been one of the popular cars of the past few years, offering drivers a range of powertrains including fully electric, plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV), and a hybrid. The “normal” styling won over a lot of drivers who simply wanted a reliable and practical hybrid or electric car rather than something that resembled a concept or vision of the future.
Now the entire range has had a facelift, along with a boost to the range of the all-electric IONIQ. The new, bigger 38.3 kWh battery means the all-electric IONIQ has a WLTP range of 183 miles – at least 60 miles more than its predecessor.
The IONIQ Electric Premium starts at £29,450 after the Plug-In Car Grant, with this trim offering 16” alloy wheels, automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and chrome windows surrounds. The interior has also received a boost, with a new larger 10.25” touchscreen with built-in navigation, as well as Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Creature comforts are plentiful too with a wireless charging pad for your smartphone, heated seats and heated steering wheel, plus electrically adjustable driver’s seat lumbar support.
The vehicle features a Type 2 charge port for fast charging at home – around six hours using a 7.4 kWh home wall charger – as well as a CCS charge port for rapid charging at service stations and other locations.
