Audi’s flagship saloon is now available as a plug-in hybrid option, so now you can get 28 miles of electric-only driving as well as some of the finest features available on any car.
The Audi A8 L TFSI E might be all about luxury for the most, but it also has plenty of performance thanks to the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine. Combine that with the electric motor and you get a whopping 700Nm of torque. In the real world that equates to a zero to 62mph time of 4.9 seconds.
While the Audi A8 is a not an exercise in cost saving, the electric-only driving mode helps improve efficiency and fuel economy on shorter journeys as well as pushing the passenger experience even further with its near-silent driving when using the electric motor only.
There’s another benefit from having an on-board battery and electric powertrain – pre-entry climate control. This allows you to activate the heated steering wheel, seats, mirrors, front and rear window heaters, and even seat ventilation – what could be more luxurious than that.
Charging at home
You can find full details of how long it takes to charge this vehicle from empty to full using a 7.4kW home charge point at the bottom of this page.
However, it's important to note that most electric car charging is done overnight when you're asleep (so you wake up to a charged vehicle) and it's very unlikely you will ever need to charge the battery from completely empty to completely full. So, in reality, most drivers will only need to "top up" their car's battery overnight - for example, from 50% to 80%.
We tested how often the average driver would need to charge each week using the Jaguar GO I-PACE app. See how we got on in this video.
