The Citroen e-Spacetourer now has added extras
The EV people carrier now boasts having extra length and much more interior space
Love them or loathe them, vans and people carriers have certainly become an integral sight on many of our busy road systems. In fact, they seem to be everywhere nowadays. Perhaps the increase in numbers is related to families becoming larger? Or maybe a self-employed industry within the UK is simply growing? Whatever the reason, the thought of switching to a larger electric vehicle is, though, often addressed with a relatively sceptical question…how much will it cost? Interestingly, not as much as you may initially have thought.
A recent report in Auto Express explains that Citroen’s e-Spacetourer has recently had its range boosted with a pair of XL variants. And, that all-important price tag should no doubt raise a smile among the interested few. The long-wheelbase model comes in at a respectable starting price of £32,495 – and that includes the £2,500 plug-in car grant issued by the government.
Available in two trim- levels, an entry-level Business Edition is equipped with steel wheels, cruise control and driver attention monitor as standard. Inside there is seating for up to nine individuals, air conditioning, plus Apple Play and Android Auto. Also, the seats can be removed, turning it into a spacious van – 3,100 litres to be exact. That’s 550 litres more than a standard version. The Flair trim-level option starts at £48,335 and features 17in alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, body-coloured door handles, a panoramic glass sunroof and seating for eight.
Spec-wise, the extended wheelbase model is equipped with a 134bhp electric motor mounted to the front axle, along with a 50kWh battery pack that is said to cover 143 miles in-between charges. The battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in just half an hour when connected to a 100kW DC rapid charger. When being charged using a 7.4kW wall box charger, you can expect it to take at least seven and a half hours.
