Skoda shows off Octavia vRS plug-in hybrid model
The new Skoda Octavia vRS performance range of cars will include a plug-in hybrid option for the first time.
The new Octavia vRS iV PHEV produces 242hp, offering plenty of performance, but it also has a handy electric only range of 37 miles. The vRS Octavia PHEV joins Skoda’s other electrified cars such as the Superb iV PHEV and the fully electric Citigoe.
The model features a 1.4-litre petrol engine combined with an 85kW electric motor and is available in the SE and SE L Trims. The Octavia vRS PHEV will go from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.
Thanks to the combined use of the 13kWh battery and electric motors, the Octavia vRS PHEV has low emissions of 30g/km which bodes well for any company car drivers as the BIK tax rates change from April 2020. See more about BIK rate changes here.
The Skoda Octavia is available as a saloon or an estate and features 18-inch alloys as standard as well as RS-red brake calipers. A number of features and decals on the car also come in “sporty black” according to Skoda, giving it a more aggressive look.
The hatchback version features a black rear spoiler while the estate comes with a body coloured rear spoiler.
Inside the vRS features upgraded Alcantara seats which can be electrically adjusted, while both driver and passenger seats can be heated. The dashboard also features Alcantara with contrasting stitching.
In the infotainment department, the vRS Octavia includes a 10” touchscreen, while the driver is faced with a 10” virtual cockpit which includes the instrument cluster and other useful information such as sat-nav directions.
Prices are yet to be announced.
