Order books open for new electric Fiat 500 hatchback
Reservations are now open for the new fully electric Fiat 500 ‘la prima” hatchback, following the unveiling of the electric convertible 500 earlier this year.
The new Fiat 500 is now only available as an all-electric model and comes in convertible form, unveiled earlier this year, and hatchback.
The iconic design remains, but the electric Fiat 500 now features a 42kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 199 miles.
Prices for the new 500 ‘la prima’ hatchback start from £26,995 including the plug-in car grant. It features a panoramic glass roof and other design updates include a more prominent rear spoiler, full LED headlights, 17-inch diamond-cut allows and “eco leather” seats.
For charging, the Fiat 500 features an 85kW fast charge system which the carmaker says will add around 30 miles in five minutes using a rapid charger. A 0-80% charge on a rapid charger will take about 35 minutes.
Charging at home can be completed via the Type 2 AC charging socket with a typical 7.4kW home charge point “filling” the battery in about six hours.
The new Fiat 500 electric has three driving modes – Normal, Range and the much talked about Sherpa mode (named after Himalayan Sherpas), which maximises range at the expense of other interior comforts.
The new Fiat 500 electric also features a number of driving aids and Level 2 autonomous driving ability which Fiat says is a first for this segment.
This includes a front-facing camera; intelligent adaptive cruise control which allows the car to respond to changing car distances, cyclists and pedestrians; lane keep assist; urban blind spot assist which uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor blind spots, and more.
In terms of in-car infotainment, the new 500 sports a 10.25-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
