New Peugeot e-208 prices and specs confirmed
Peugeot’s first all-electric car, the e-208, will be available in the same specs as its petrol and diesel equivalents, with prices starting from £25,050.
Deliveries for the striking new hatchback should start in early 2020, with the same trims being available on all versions of the 208. Peugeot is keen to normalise electric vehicles (EVs), so it is looking to simplify how customers choose an electric car in the first place.
Rather than offering EV-only trims, Peugeot wants customers to choose their vehicle and then the powertrain, such as petrol, diesel or all-electric. All versions are available in Active, Allure and the top-level GT trim.
The e-208 made its UK debut at the Fully Charged Live event in June 2019 and is priced higher than a Renault Zoe, although it comes in under the launch price of the upcoming Vauxhall Corsa-e.
The e-208 comprises a 50kWh battery and 136hp electric motor, which provides a WLTP range of 211 miles.
All e-208 models come with three driving modes – Sport, Normal and Eco – and support rapid charging up to 100kWh, with an 80% charge taking just 30 minutes. Peugeot recommend using a wallbox charger (see compatible chargers here), so the all-new e-208 comes with a Mode 3 Type 2 cable as standard, which will charge the vehicle in 7.5 hours with a 7kW charging point.
Peugeot has also developed the MyPeugeot app, which allow drivers to manage their vehicle charge remotely, precondition the temperature of the vehicle and receive ‘e-Coaching’ on how to benefit most from their vehicle. Owners of the e-208 will also receive a ‘Charging Pass’ which enables them to access certain UK public charging points through a free subscription for an introductory period.
In Active trim, the e-208 Active costs from £25,050*. Active trim features 16-inch alloy wheels (steel wheels for the e-208), Active Safety Brake with pedestrian detection, electric and heated door mirrors and LED daytime running lights. The e-208 in Active trim also features pre-heating functionality and automatic air conditioning.
Prices for Allure start from £26,250* for the e-208. Allure models come with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (16-inch alloy wheels on e-208), a gloss black B-pillar, leather-effect seat trim with double stitch detail and the Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit with configurable 3D head-up instrument panel. Allure trim models also feature Peugeot’s signature ‘Claw Effect’ full LED 3D rear-light clusters.
The all-new e-208 is also available exclusively in range-topping GT trim. Priced at £29,650*, the GT models feature fully automated parking assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, Lane Positioning Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring. Inside, GT models come with grey Alcantara leather trim, heated front seats, and Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit® with a larger 10-inch capacitive colour touchscreen and Connected 3D Navigation.
