MG’s hugely popular EV, the ZS EV, has been awarded a Five Star Euro NCAP rating.
Euro NCAP assesses the safety performance of vehicles and the MG ZS EV achieved five stars – the highest star rating available.
MG says the rating underlines the car’s status as the first truly affordable and family-friendly electric car.
The car performed well in the four key test categories – Adult Occupant and Child Occupant, which assesses the safety of vehicle drivers and passengers; Vulnerable Road User, which assesses how well the vehicle protects pedestrians and other road users; and Safety Assist which looks at the safety features and driver aids provided to help prevent collisions or minimise impact.
The MG ZS EV includes a range of safety features as part of its MG Pilot suite of driver aids including Active Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales & Marketing at MG Motor UK, said: “We’re entering a new chapter of MG’s history with ZS EV, so it’s really pleasing to see that our first-ever electric car has performed do well in the tough Euro NCAP safety tests. Euro NCAP is respected all over the world, so customers can be confident that MG ZS EV is a safe and capable electric car for their family.”
