Fiat E-Scudo van now up for grabs
Fiat has opened the order books for the Fiat E-Scudo light commercial van (LCV), which offers a 100 per cent electric powertrain alongside four diesel units.
Two BEV powerplants are available, with a 50kWh or 75kWh battery, with an AC charging capacity of up to 11kW and 100kW in DC. The latter means you can charge the battery to 80 per cent in around 45 minutes. Fully charged up, you’ll get 205 miles of range.
The presence of electric power doesn’t alter the Scudo’s load capacity – there’s up to 6.6m3 of loading bay volume, a payload of up to 1t and a towing capacity of 1t.
Behind the wheel
Fiat says the E-Scudo has been designed to be car-like to drive, with a length of 5m for the main version and a height of 1.9m. The seating position has designed to be more car-like, with an elevated seating position, while there’s a head-up display unit to keep eyes on the road.
There’s also consumer car tech in the suspension, with four-corner independent suspension with a reinforced McPherson front axle with anti-roll bar, and oblique wishbone trailing arms for the rear axle. There’s also variable spring stiffness and load-adaptive variable damping.
The Scudo has an extensive set of advanced driver assistance systems, with automatic road sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and blind spot alert. There are also notification systems for obstacles in the direction of travel, frontal collision warning, and a rear camera that offers a 180-degree panoramic view to aid parking.
All the options
Fiat also offers the option of ‘Grip Control’, which optimises performance and traction for conditions such as snow, mud or sand.
Two lengths are offered, 5m and 5.3m in the Maxi version. Load volumes are between 5.3m3 and 6.1m3 depending on the wheelbase. It’s available in three configurations – Van, Crew Cab and Cab with platform – and three trim levels; SX, Tecnico and Business.
Inside the cabin, the Moduwork system allows the passenger seat to be turned into a workstation and an extension of the load compartment. This allows the items up to 4m long to be transported (Maxi version), increasing the volume to a total capacity of 6.6m3.
You’ll pay £35,720 (excl. VAT) for the E-Scudo Van SWB Electric 136HP Auto 50kWh Tecnico (£38,869 on the road) and the E-Scudo Van LWB Electric 136HP Auto 75kWh Business costs £43,050 excluding VAT, and £49,825 included.
