Top 10 cheapest electric cars to lease
Some of the best electric vehicles (EV) are available for under £300 a month on average when looking at the most competitive leasing deals available in the UK right now.
Smart Home Charge has compiled the lowest priced lease deals from DriveElectric to highlight the top 10 offers for those that want to make the switch but would rather rent than own their next vehicle.
Customers that choose personal contract hire (PCH) to fund their next EV can gain access to some of the latest products for a low monthly payment and lower initial upfront cost in comparison to a personal contract purchase (PCP) finance.
PCP deals generally tend to have a higher upfront cost in the form of a deposit, whereas PCH customers have to pay an initial rental, which is generally at a lower level.
There is also no balloon payment to pay at the end of a PCH contract, so customers can just hand back their EV at the end of the term with no further obligation.
It’s worth noting there are variables that will change the monthly price you pay depending on the term, initial rental payment and annual mileage.
The examples here are all based on a nine month initial rental payment and an annual mileage of 5,000 miles, but this is something you can customise when calculating what works best for your budget.
Each of the examples below are available through DriveElectric with free delivery to all UK mainland addresses.

DS-3 Crossback E-Tense leads the way in Q2 2022
Exploring all options to fund your EV is essential, proven here by the DS-3 Crossback E-Tense emerging as the best value option at just £229 a month.
Not only do you get over 200 miles of range, but you also get a stylish premium EV experience at a price point which is almost half the price of the £439 a month you would pay on a PCP finance offer directly from DS in Q2.
The initial rental of £2,063 on the DS-3 Crossback E-Tense for PCH is also much lower than the £4,429 deposit you would have to put down if you were to finance on PCP with the option to buy the vehicle at the end of the term.
In second place comes VW's e-Up
Volkswagen’s e-Up is only just behind in second place for £233 a month, although this vehicle doesn’t offer quite as much range or room. However, the e-Up is still an excellent urban EV and its 162 mile range is more than enough for most daily trips.
Coming in at third place is the Nissan Leaf.
The Nissan Leaf rounds out the top three at £250 a month over a four-year period for the shorter range 39kWh version. But again, this is still a fantastic entry point for those looking for space and utility at an affordable price.
An honorable mention goes to the Kia e-niro
It’s also worth mentioning the long-range Kia e-Niro as a standout, which was one of the most popular EVs in the UK in 2021, second only to Tesla’s Model 3.
The e-Niro offers the best range out of any in the top 10 lease deals, so if you’re someone that needs a vehicle that can handle some longer trips more frequently, this might be the EV for you.
Once you’ve chosen your next EV to lease, why not compare which EV charger you would like to install, compare charging costs and arrange an installation.
