Top 10 cheapest electric cars on PCP finance in May
A new quarter means all new deals from car manufacturers on their latest electric vehicles (EVs) and the majority are still under £300 a month.
Smart Home Charge has once again compiled a list of the top 10 lowest priced electric vehicles from car manufacturers when financed through a personal contract purchase (PCP).
The average price among the top 10 is £301 in Q2 and car manufacturers are offering up to £1,750 in additional discount incentives over and above the plug-in car grant.
All the electric cars highlighted here are eligible for the Government’s £1,500 plug-in car grant, which means they all have a total price below £32,000, including VAT and delivery fees.
Financing through PCP means you have the option to buy your electric car at the end of the contract by settling the “balloon payment”, or use the vehicle as a part-exchange on your next vehicle.
As always, there is the caveat that each of these electric vehicle offers require a deposit, but hopefully if you’re ready to make the switch to an electric car, you’ll have a petrol or diesel model that can be part-exchanged to make things slightly more affordable.

Nissan Leaf takes pole position in Q2 2022
The Nissan Leaf remains one of the best value electric vehicles on the market and the Japanese manufacturer has kept its monthly price on PCP at just £219 a month, the same as Q1.
The newer Nissan Leaf e+ has a much-improved range and performance, offering 239 miles on one charge, a faster 0 to 60mph time and faster rapid charge rates.
Customers that bought a Leaf in Q1 this year (as highlighted in our previous round-up) would have benefited from a slightly more generous deposit contribution and lower APR representative, but Nissan is still offering £500 off the Leaf Acenta over the next three months, in addition to the plug-in car grant funding.
The silver medal goes to the Vauxhall Corsa-e
Vauxhall’s Cora-e takes second place this quarter priced at £259 a month for an all-electric hatch that will comfortably cover your daily needs as well as longer drives with a WLTP range of 205 miles. The Vauxhall also attracts the most generous deposit contribution with a £1,750 discount on the Corsa-e.
Coming in third is the Peugeot e-208
Peugeot’s sporty-looking e-208 hatchback is in third place for Q2 with a monthly price of £295.55. This EV has an WLTP range of 211 miles and features some neat design touches on the exterior, including the “claw-effect” front and rear-light clusters, while the interior has a refreshingly simple look.
An honourable mention goes to the MG5 and MG ZS EV
While the top three best priced electric cars are all hatchbacks, there is a breadth of options on offer in Q2 to suit those that need more space, but still want to switch to electric motoring.
The MG5 all-electric estate and MG ZS offer more boot space and practicality, as well as 250 and nearly 200 miles of range respectively.
For those that are in need of even more space
The Vauxhall Vivaro-e Life Combi offers up to nine seats and 143 miles of range on a full charge.
