What made you decide to get a home EV charge point installed?
Charging at home is so convenient and I wouldn't have switched to an EV if I couldn't charge at home.
The combination of the mileage I do and the right tariff means it's cheap to run an EV for me.
It's nice not having to rely on finding a garage and having to fill up.
Did the installer go the extra mile?
The installer actually fixed something extra for us.
We needed something fitting to allow an extra connection, but that was all sorted for us as part of the installation.
I had the car when we had the install, but the installer helped show me how it all worked together.

How would you rate your installer?
This was one of the biggest things for me.
I wanted to know the installer was going to be careful and do a good job.
He was excellent, turned up on time and went through everything.
He was finished in half a day and was on his way.
Did they suggest any alternative cable routing for your charger?
The installer did actually suggest a different route that would be neater for us and we were happy with that.
Why did you choose the Simpson and Partner Home 7?
We have a nice house in the country and we wanted something like the Simpson & Partners Home 7 that matched with what we were looking for in terms of design.
We went with a black lid and then a wood colour that matched the cladding we have at home.
I checked the app was decent, but then we just really liked that we could customise the design and try to link that up to blend in with our house.
It looks really nice and it's easy to use.
How have you found using the Simpson and Partner Home 7 overall?
I'm quite tech savvy so it was all pretty straightforward for me.
The app's quite good, you just choose which energy company you're with and then it was just a question of plugging in the Ioniq, locking the cable and then we were good to go.
What made you choose the Hyundai IONIQ 6?
It's my first electric car.
I don't do that many miles anyway so it made sense. Personally it means I can get rid of my fuel card and be a bit greener.
I looked at a Tesla, but they were too minimal with the screen and lack of buttons.
I had a Hyundai previously, so it was between the Ioniq 5 and 6, so after going for a test drive we ended up on the 6.
Did you find the world of EV charging at home confusing initially?
There's a lot of chargers out there so narrowing it down to something took some research.
Linking the charger to the right tariff didn't feel as straightforward as perhaps it should be.
I did initially find things a bit confusing in terms of matching the right charger with the EV energy tariff that would get you the best rates.
How did you find Smart Home Charge?
I did enquire with the energy company about getting a charger installed but there was no one available to install it for 16 weeks. Smart Home Charge was top of the search when I started to look at alternatives after that. It would have been a nightmare if I had the Ioniq and no home charger. I wanted to line everything up so the car and the charger were ready. I had the car for three days before the charger was installed, so it all worked out perfectly in the end.
What made Smart Home Charge stand out from other installers? i.e. why did you choose us?
I looked through Smart Home Charge's customer reviews and it was actually the in depth customer stories that solidified my decision. They gave me a better feel for what to expect and so I felt confident the engineers were going to take care with the install. I also really liked that I could get any charger from their range and it was the ease of getting the quote yourself remotely without having to wait for an engineer to come out and plot that out. It felt like a no-brainer.
How was your experience when browsing our website?
It was nice comparing the different chargers on the site and what to expect from the installation. It was really useful. The site was really easy to navigate and find what I needed.
How did you get on with the online site survey? Did you find it easy to follow?
I liked the process of doing the survey ourselves. It meant I could have a chat with my wife and think about where we wanted it placed exactly. We took some pictures of the electricity box and then a video of the route to where we wanted it installed.
What would you say to someone who is looking to buy a home EV charging point and am considering Smart Home Charge?
I've already recommended Smart Home Charge to a friend. It was quick, easy and they did a really good job. The best thing was that I was able to get a slot really quickly, but that didn't mean they skimped on the quality of the installation process or service.
