As you can see, both chargers charge at a speed of up to 7.4kW. They both also use WiFi and Bluetooth for connectivity, however the Easee One does also have the option to use 4G (which is free for the lifespan of the unit) which makes it a better option for those who might have weak WiFi in the area they want their home charger to be installed.
Both the Easee One and Hypervolt Home 3 Pro come with a warranty that lasts three years.
Price wise, the Easee One is slightly cheaper coming in at at £918 with installation (or £489 without). The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro costs slightly more, coming in at £1074 with installation (or £642 without).
Design and build quality
Since either home charger is going to be sitting on your wall for a number of years, looks and design are going to play a large role for a lot of people. Build quality is also important, especially if you are getting it installed outside where it's exposed to the weather.
Easee One
If minimalism is your priority, the Easee One is hard to beat.
It's one of the smallest home EV chargers in our range, making it great for people who don't want a bulky home charger on their wall. Designed in Norway, it features clean lines and interchangeable front covers available in several colours, making it easy to match your home. The Easee One is modular too with key components like the Chargeberry (the name that Easee gives to the internal unit that houses the components) being swappable, allowing for easier maintenance and future upgrades without needing to replace the entire unit.
Unlike most chargers, the Easee One can also function as both an untethered and tethered charger. By locking your charging cable into the unit via the app, you can leave it permanently attached or remove it whenever you prefer.
Hypervolt Home 3 Pro
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro has been voted one of the UK's best-looking EV chargers by many companies and while we think that the glowing thunderbolt on the front might divide opinions, we can't deny that its not an ugly EV charger. Its smooth curves, integrated cable holster with a wrap around cable design make it a very neat looking home charger. Plus, the LED lights can always be turned off if you don't like them.
Colour-wise, the Hypervolt comes in either Space Grey, Ultra-White and Ultra-Black. You also get a choice of three cable lengths, 5m, 7.5m and 10 metre, making it a great option for people with large driveways.
Winner: Easee One
Neither EV charger will make an eye-sore of your wall but due to the Easee One's ability to swap between being tethered and untethered and its modualllar components, it takes the lead over the Hypervolt home 3 pro on this one.
App and user expierence
Aside from plugging and unplugging the EV charger from your car, the EV charger's companion app will be the key part of the EV charger you'll be interacting with most. Fortunately both the Easee One and Hypervolt Home 3 Pro come with great dedicated apps that are easy to use. There are however some features that might sway you from one to the other.
Hypervolt home 3 pro
Hypervolt's app is fairly straightforward and easy to use. Important information is displayed in the form of a helpful infographic that can tell you how fast your car is charging and where the power is coming from (which is handy for battery and solar panel users).
Scheduling charge sessions is easy and you can set different charging schedules for different days if you wanted to.
What's not so great however is setting the cost tracking. Most EV chargers allow you to set a start and end time for when your energy rate begins and ends. Hypervolt however, only gives you a start time for one rate and expects you enter another rate to signal the end of the first one, which is fine until you realise that the app counts midnight as a stop time. This means that you need to out in three rates for tariffs like Intelligent Octopus Go which have an off-peak window that starts at 11:30pm. It's not a big deal but it is a faff to be aware off, especially when setting pricing on Easee's app is much more straight forward.
Easee One
The Easee One's app is an absolute pleasure to use with every setting clearly mapped out.
You can set schedules, lock and unlock the cable, start and stop charging and even change the power output straight from the app's home screen. More intriqute setting like connectivity and costs tracking are hidden away in an easy to access menu.
Winner: Easee One
It's a close tie but the Easee One wins this again thanks to its similicity, especially when setting your energy rate prices.
Smart Tariff Compatibility
EV tariffs are becoming more commonplace than ever, offering drivers discounted off peak rates during certain times of the day (usually overnight).
All home EV chargers are required to support some form of scheduled charging as of 2021 but some go even further and support smart integration with tariffs Intelligent Octopus Go, which provide super cheap off-peak rates in exchange for allowing companies like Octopus to control when your car charges.
Some cars support this integration directly, however having a charger that supports these tariffs means you are not limited to a number of vehicles should you want to sign up.
Hypervolt Home 3 Pro
When it comes to smart EV tariff optimisation, Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is one of highest number of supported tariffs.
Its protfolio of tariffs include: Intelligent Octopus Go, OVO Charge Pay as you Go, E-on Next Drive Smart and EDF's Smart Charging bolt-on.
Easee One
Unfortunately, Easee's track record of supporting smart EV energy tariffs is incredibly lacking and up until fairly recently, non-existant.
As of writing, Easee One only supports the following smart energy tariffs: ScotishPower EV bundle and Fuse EV Charging Bolt-On.

If you are looking for smart energy tariff support, Hypervolt is the clear winner.
Solar power charging
If you have or are considering a solar array for your house, having an EV charger that supports solar integration is a great way to use any surplus solar energy, as it essentially charges your car for free under the right conditions.
Easee One
Out of the box, the Easee One doesn't support any form of solar integration but this can be changed.
Add the Easee equalizer accessory to your set up and you'll be able to choose from which energy source powers your car whether that be from your solar panels, grid energy or both.

Hypervolt home 3 pro
Unlike Easee, Hypervolt offers solar EV charging out of the box and just like Easee, you can vary the amount of solar energy your charger uses via two solar modes.
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro takes it a step further and offers home battery storage support for compatible models.

While keeping solar energy support as an add-on keeps the cost of the Easee One low, having solar support out of the box does not just save installation time but also faff later on (especially if you have solar panels or know you're going to get them).
