Why did you choose the Tesla Model 3?

We were ready to buy a new car last year and we weren't actually considering an EV originally because we do quite a bit of mileage.

But we stopped at a Tesla store and our kids really wanted us to test a Model 3 as part of our new car search.

We tried it and then we just bought it based on that. It's so comfortable and it's made my life so much easier on the commute.

What made you decide to get a Tesla Wall Connector installed?

We were in Cambridge at the time, but were in the process of moving to Norwich, so we didn't want to put a home charger at our old place until we were settled at the new house.

Having a home electric vehicle charger has helped cut our running costs. We charge overnight with Octopus Energy.

What made Smart Home Charge stand out from other installers? i.e. why did you choose us?

Smart Home Charge was actually included in the list of suggested EV home charger installation companies from the Tesla store.

There were a few companies we could have gone with, but Smart Home Charge was the only one that we felt had a quick and transparent quoting process to get us a price.

The other installation companies seemed to have a much more disjointed quoting process. Smart Home Charge also had the best reviews out of any of them on TrustPilot.

How did you choose to fund your charger?

Another reason we liked Smart Home Charge was the number of options you have to spread the payments.

We liked that we could split the payments over three months using PayPal.

How have you found things in terms of running costs for your EV compared with your expectations?

We do around 400 miles a week, so we're quite high mileage compared with some other EV drivers.

It would have cost us around £400 a month in petrol to commute before.

We're now looking at around £40 a month to run the Model 3 by charging at home through Octopus Energy.

What made you choose the charger you bought?

We didn't know a lot about the range of chargers, but as we had a Tesla we settled pretty early on the thought it would be best to go with the Tesla Wall Connector.

The pricing was all pretty comparable so our thinking was that if it's developed and made by the same brand, then it would be the best choice.

How did you get on with the online site survey? Did you find it easy to follow?

It was all pretty straightforward with some pictures and videos. It was so easy to complete.

It was one of the biggest reasons why we wanted to go with Smart Home Charge.

How would you rate your installer and the work they did?

I gave a preference for a time slot and we then booked in for my day off.

The engineer was experienced. We had gravel by the front door and he made sure the cable ran through and under there and everything was put back as it was.

He made sure everything was working and demonstrated it all to us through the app before he went.

How else did Smart Home Charge help you?

The Tesla Wall Connector struggled to connect to the Tesla app at first.

The engineer let us know that this can sometimes happen, but then gave us the tip that it works from the second time onwards.

It was a nice tip and meant we didn't have to worry when we first started out using the charger. He was right, it has all worked perfectly from the second time we connected from that point on.
