Best EV deals for June 2024

New electric vehicle prices are falling, with three-quarters of models now being advertised at a discount.
According to new data from Auto Trader, the average price for new EVs are falling for seven in 10 new electric models as the industry strives to generate enough demand to meet the ZEV mandate - a regulation that requires manufacturers to ensure 22% of their UK vehicle registrations are electric this year or they face heavy financial penalties.
This market activity means it's never been a better time to explore your options in the EV market to get into zero emissions transport.
Smart Home Charge has once again compiled some of the stand-out offers in the UK for new EVs right now, with many of these offers only available until the end of June to close out the second quarter of 2024.
Each of these offers can be found either through the Electric Car Scheme, Drive Electric or by going directly to car manufacturers and their dealerships that are taking part in quarterly new car sales campaigns.

Top 3 personal contract hire lease deals
The Nissan Leaf stands out for Drive Electric as it represents a lot of car for the money and the best value deal right now on the site.
This is a special factory order offer, so it means if you put in an order now, there will be a bit of a wait for delivery in December, but it means you can access a Leaf for just over £230 a month.
Likewise, Drive Electric also has access to a special offer on the new Hyundai Kona for £267 a month and this is down for delivery even earlier in November.
If you're looking for something even earlier than that, the popular MG4 is also available with a special factory order offer for just over £300 a month, with vehicles available for delivery from August.

Top 3 salary sacrifice deals
Salary sacrifice schemes can be run through your employer to create a tax-efficient way to access the latest EVs.
Funding an EV in this way lowers an employee's monthly take-home pay, meaning they also pay less in income tax and National Insurance each month.
An interesting new development with The Electric Car Scheme is that it's now offering used EVs, which can help lower monthly payments and open up access to even more premium options that you might not have considered before.
Usually, when a lease ends, the car goes back to the leasing company and is often sold at an auction.
However, The Electric Car Scheme wanted to do things differently. With its used car salary sacrifice scheme, electric cars that reach the end of their lease, or are returned early, are reconditioned and offered to salary sacrifice customers at a discounted price.
The battery on these used EVs is covered by the lease company (and normally under warranty).
Batteries tend to have a 20-year lifespan -- which is well beyond the point the car is returned at the end of a lease.
Highlights include models like the Audi Q4 for around £471 a month (a new model direct from Audi would be £450 a month, but would not include these added extras and also requires over £8,000 in the form of a deposit).
The BMW i4 Gran Coupe is another example that represents great value for a nearly new premium EV at £563 a month. Brand new direct from BMW, this model would be closer to £569 without servicing and the extra included. You would also need to put down £10,485 as a deposit for a brand-new version.
Seeing as you might now be considering a used EV on salary sacrifice, have you thought about a pre-loved smart home charger to bring down the running costs for electric vehicle ownership even further?

Top 3 car manufacturer retail offers
Direct offers from car brands should certainly not be discounted right now, particularly as some brands are aggressively looking to increase the number of EV sales they do this year.
Vauxhall is really pushing hard to increase its EV sales mix with an aggressive campaign to get more customers into electric vehicles.
Not only is the Corsa one of the models highlighted by Auto Trader to have seen the biggest discounts so far this year for new EVs, it is offering a £3,800 discount, one year of free public charging and it has said it will match the monthly finance payments for an equivalent Vauxhall petrol model so you can switch to an EV instead (over a longer term for the finance agreement).
Citroen was also highlighted as one of the brands that is reducing prices on its models, like the e-C4 and it has a 0% finance offer running right now, with its new e-C4 available at under £400 a month.
The Honda e:Ny1 deserves a special mention too as it caught a lot of attention across the industry by offering a cutting-edge new electric SUV at under £300 a month. The Japanese brand is also backing this offer with a £3,000 discount.
So as you can see, there are plenty of options out there to help get you into an EV, with many car brands looking to help address EV affordability with discounts and offers that can fit different budgets.
Once you've chosen your next electric vehicle, please have a look through your options to charge at home (if you can) and we can help with getting you the best chargers, new or pre-loved and a hassle-free installation.
